Established 90 years ago, the renowned Babich family cellars is now in the hands of the third-generation. With 45 years of winemaking experience, Joe Babich is one of New Zealand’s leading producers with a respect from grape varieties’ classic style. Joe’s Family Reserve Sauvignon is a perfect example of why New Zealand sets the benchmark for quality, zippy whites the world over. Coupled with the fact that ”2006 gave the best growing conditions in New Zealand to date” (Rosemary George, MW) this is a Kiwi classic and its finest. Powerful, exciting aromas of tropical fruit and citrus. Passionfruit, pineapple and ripe gooseberry fruit flavours with a zesty lime finish. Rich and refreshing. Great on its own or with seafood dishes, exotic salad, lobster and oysters.

Our Tasting Panel’s top tip for Kiwi Sauvignon, the grape variety that elevated New Zealand to prominence on the world wine map. And this one scored a rare perfect ten at a recent in-house blind tasting. Husband and wife team Brent and Shirley Rawstrom are celebrated for making their Sauvignon in the classic Marlborough style … l eap-from-the-glass aromas of ripe gooseberry and citrus fruit and mouthwatering flavours of passion fruit and red pepper. Stafford Lodge is rarely seen in the UK but the sheer, persistence of buyer Thomas Woolrych has secured us a small parcel of the 2005 vintage. Guaranteed to impress guests and superb for the price!
