Sturt and Hume Oak Aged Chardonnay 2006

Named after two intrepid explorers who passed by the site of the Buronga Hill Winery on their adventures into the outback, Stuart & Hume Chardonnay is part of a small selection of wines put together by the winery’s extremely talented winemakers. Buronga Hill is now among Australia’s largest and most modern wineries, and is well-equipped to make great wine for everyday enjoyment … their fruity Chardonnay, with just a touch of toasty oak, is perfect for enjoying with creamy pasta or fresh seafood. ”Pineapple, peach and hints of fresh fig are complemented by a zingy lemon crispness and smooth, creamy vanilla.”

Casella Family Reserve Trebbiano 2006

This rare, fruit-packed Aussie gem is every bit as flavoursome as John Casella’s immensely popular Black Stump. John is passionate about Trebbiano and with this delicious, flavoursome white it’s easy to see why. With a powerfully refreshing zip to match Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano was traditionally referred to it as ‘White Shiraz’ because of its big, succulent fruit flavours. Glinting gold-green with a fresh, grassy lime and a mouthful packed with refreshing pears, lemon and peaches. Great with big juicy prawns, creamy chicken dishes … or just on its own!

Berton The Folly Chardonnay Pinot Grigio 2006

You’ll love this citrus-charged gem from Bob Berton, who gave us first refusal on his brand new wine! We know you’ve enjoyed Bob’s work for years so when he set up a smart new boutique winery, we made sure we were there to secure you the first release! ‘The Folly’ is a wholly unique combination of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. When Bob’s new neighbours heard of the wine they dismissed the idea as a folly, but quickly changed their tune when they tried this crisp, aromatic white, pestering him for any spare cases. Sadly for them, he’d already earmarked the lot for you! Supremely refreshing, brimming with lively flavours of ripe tropical fruit and an uplifting, mouthwatering freshness. Great to enjoy with friends, this certainly is not a folly!

Berton Crook Road Verdelho 2006

Sauvignon fans will adore Bob Berton’s ‘maiden’ wine from his brand new Crook Road winery. Verdelho has been grown in Australia for nearly 200 years, but until recently was used almost exclusively for sweet wines, or ’stickies,’ as they call them Down Under. However innovative winemakers like Bob have transformed it into a delicious, fresh-tasting dry white … great for lovers of Sauvignon! Bob’s a very old friend of ours - he introduced you to ever-popular Willy Willy Shiraz and we’re delighted he chose to give you exclusive access to his supremely refreshing Verdelho … especially as these grapes were the very first to be crushed in this exciting new winery! Lively, mouthwatering Verdelho bursting with citrus and lemon grass aromas. Hints of tropical passion fruit and zesty lime are joined by a fresh, lemon crispness on the finish.

Berton Hoare Lane Chenin Blanc Verdelho 2006

Bob Berton, dynamic winemaker and old friend, has left behind some of Australia’s finest estates to branch out on his own - setting up his own boutique winery. A delighted Bob is now able to produce the wines he really wants to make - original and harmonious blends that throw out the rulebook to discover delicious new flavours. Hoare Lane is a refreshing, fruity combination of the Loire’s traditional grape, crisp Chenin Blanc, Aussie favourite Verdelho and a dash of tropical Chardonnay. Aromas of kiwi fruit with melon, ripe peach and pear favours … a fruit explosion with a hint of vanilla. Crisp green apple and citrus keep it mouthwatering and fresh. Ideal on its own or served with fish and chips. Great with friends.

Berton Weigh Station Chenin Blanc 2006

Aussie Bob Berton is an old friend who has made some of our favourite wines (think Willy Willy!). He has now invested in a cellar all of his own, and this white is one of his first releases. Chenin Blanc is a hugely versatile but under-rated grape. Best known in France’s Loire Valley, it’s capable of producing wines in a massive range of styles - all with a captivating and refreshing vibrancy. In Australia’s warm climate, this grape stays crisp, fruity and fresh. Pale straw in colour with aromas of lime, passionfruit and apple tart. Generous passionfruit and kiwi flavours. Delicious on its own, or enjoyed with warm lime and coriander chicken salad, creamy fish dishes or simply cold meats.
